From Home Maker to Home Baker The exciting tale of Kanika Bhatia The founder of Cake for all occasions!

Kanika Bhatia has always been a home maker and she completed her BCA in the education front. She has been inspired and supported by her husband for the baking journey.


1. Hi Kanika, welcome to the interview session of Annie’s Blog. To start with, we would request you to tell us a few lines about yourself.

I am Kanika Bhatia, basically hail from Pink city Jaipur, On Education front, I have done BCA and I am a queen of my house.

2. How did you get started with baking? At what age did you
bake your first cake?

I have started baking at the age of 28 years, being a home maker I love to cook for my husband, my kids and my parents and thus with a small inspiration from my family. I have started baking and now my kids don’t want to have bakery products from outside. Though I have started baking professionally but my biggest achievement is the smile on my kids face when I bake.


3. How was your first baking experience?

It was a mix feeling as  baking was with the help of books and wanted that the outcome will be great which actually was.


4. How did you learn baking?

I have learnt professional baking and tips how to make my cake / muffins etc similar to market one’s from my sister in law who was in this profession (Home Baking only) from past some years.

5. When did you decide to become a professional baker and start your baking business? What was the inspiration behind the decision?

That day is yet to come, as there is a say that“No one is perfect”, Similar way I have started my baking business from my home so that I may learn from the feedback’s I am getting from my clients, my family members and friends.  My husband and kids are my biggest inspiration without their support baking would not have been possible.

6. Please tell us about your baking company Cake for all occasions.

Cake for all occasions is the platform where you may expect any type of bakery products specially cakes at any point of time specially when you need it the most.
7. What are some of the challenging cake ideas that you performed till date?


Some of the clients are having very vague ideas / thoughts / pictures in their mind which they wants to have in their front, but frankly speaking I like these type of people, because whenever we may able to make up there expectation’s then the achievement seems to be a great one. Normal Cake’s everybody wants but some of the adventurous clients are having my taste.

I have met one of them at Mumbai, in my neighborhood who wanted to get a cake for her sister’s Birthday. Normally, I have asked her which type of cake she wants, in which flavor, in how many pounds etc. She said, her sister is a shopaholic and she wants to give her a surprise with some unique cake. I have prepared a cake with a doll with all the shopping bags in hands.It was a great experience.When the Birthday Girl and her family members saw the cake They were speechless. She hugged me and It was a great experience.


8. What are some of the signature products of your company? Which one is your personal favorite?

Rasmalai Cake,Chocolate Cake, Veg Plum Cake and Paan Cake are the signature products of my company.


9. Being a baker, you must have had to overcome challenges. Please tell us about them.

The major challenge is to get the suitable materials as My husband is having transferable job and to get material /different utensils etc are the major challenges, which normally is not available in all cities specially city like Jaipur.

10. Narrate some of your success stories.

I have many stories to share. For professionals every experience, every delivery is part of their job but for a newcomer like me Every order is a unique experience with some story behind it. If successfully I am  able to achieve my dreams then very soon I may publish my book with all success stories. I also won the award for World’s Outstanding Cake Designer recently.



11. What plans do you have to scale your business operations?

I wish to have my own Bakery soon with expansion plans in mind.

12. Your advice to those who wish to take up baking as a profession.

Every person is having some talent in his / her, only thing we have to do is to identify that and to work upon. If any of my friend is having a small wish to be a
professional baker, I will say just go for it. This platform still is open for so many new comers and new ideas are always welcome by people.

13. If you have had one wish

I wish to open a chain of Bakery’s, Also I wish to have my own training institute where I wish to train poor and needy people who may earn and fulfill their needs with the help of this profession.
