India level the series 1-1 with Nehra’s and Bumrah’s bowling

England won the toss and decided to field first. When Kohli and KL Rahul opened up for batting it looked as if the score will be good in terms of batting.  Kohli was out for 21 runs and did not manage to do great in terms of batting. Rahul scored 71 runs in 47 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Manish Pandey was the second highest scorer with 30 runs in 26 balls with 1 six.  The rest of the Indian batsmen were not great but somehow India managed to get a score of 144 runs with a loss of 8 wickets.

Ashish Nehra gave a breakthrough for India when England’s score was 22 for no loss by picking the wickets of Billings and Roy.  Amit Mishra gave a major breakthrough as Morgan was caught on the boundary thanks to a front-foot-no-ball.  At one point of time it looked as if India would lose the match again like the previous one but with Ben Stokes being out for 38 runs for LBW by Nehra gave a ray of hope for India to win the match.

Bumrah was the game changer in the pursuit of levelling the series. He managed to get Joe Root out of his way through LBW where he had scored 38 runs for 38 balls.  A run and dot ball later, Bumrah outflanked Butler with a slower delivery to England needing 7 off the last 3 balls.

Bumrah deceived Jordan with another off-cutter, giving Moeen a task to score a six with one ball left.  Bumrah came around the wicket and bowled a low full toss, by beating Moeen’s outside edge and gifting India a five-run victory and to finish with 4-0-20-2.

India 144 for 8 (Virat Kohli 21, KL Rahul 71; Chris Jordan 2 for 22, Moeen Ali 1 for 20) beat England 139 for 6 (Joe Root 38, Ben Stokes 38; Ashish Nehra 3 for 28, Jasprit Bumrah 2 for 20) by 5 runs

Man of the Match: Jasprit Bumrah

India vs WestIndies

As West Indies made a remarkable fight back on the final day of the rain-hit second test India will have to look back at their bowling combinations and get back to winning ways.

But the visitors still hold a 1-0 lead in the four test match series after winning the first test by an innings and 92 runs and would look to seal the series when they take the field at the Darren Sammy Stadium.

Over the years West Indies has lost its charm and drawing a Test that seemed long lost is worth celebrating, but the proof lies in its sustainability. Given that most of their best talent is either not interested or not wanted in Test cricket, it will be a great result for Phil Simmons’ and Jason Holder’s team if they can consistently make teams work hard for wins. The bowlers will need the same discipline as they showed in Jamaica; the lower middle order will have to show their best skills and The Top order if they perform the batting line up can cause a problem for Team India.

In the nine Tests that followed, they lost seven, including the two-Test series at home to a rebuilding Australia last year. The matches they drew were heavily influenced by rain – in Sydney and Jamaica.

Expect India to come back hard at West Indies. They have added motivation, thanks to Australia’s poor series in Sri Lanka. Leading the series 1-0 after two Tests, if they win the two remaining matches, India will go to the top  of the ICC Test rankings, irrespective of the results in other series.

The visitors hold a 1-0 lead in the four match Test series.

Only four tests have been played at this ground since the inaugural Test in 2001.

The forecast during the Test is of cloudy conditions and it rains at least for two days.

West Indies (probable): 1 Kraigg Braithwaite, 2 Leon Johnson, 3 Darren Bravo, 4 Marlon Samuels, 5 Jermaine Blackwood, 6 Roston Chase, 7 Shane Dowrich (wk), 8 Jason Holder (capt), 9 Carlos Brathwaite/Alzarri Joseph, 10 Miguel Cummins, 11 Shannon Gabriel

India (probable): 1 and 2 M Vijay/KLRahul/Shikhar Dhawan, 3 Cheteshwar Pujara, 4 Virat Kohli, 5 Ajinkya Rahane, 6 R Ashwin, 7 Wriddhiman Saha, 8 Amit Mishra/Ravindra Jadeja, 9 Umesh Yadav/Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10 Mohammed Shami, 11 Ishant Sharma.

RCB vs KKR: KKR biltz blows away RCB

KKR won the toss and decided to field first.  RCB makes a big score of 185 in 20 over’s which can give the other team a jeopardy.  The top scorers being KL, (52), Virat (52) and Shane Watson (34).

In terms of bowling KKR did a decent job where Morkel and Chawla were the highest wicket takers in the match.

KKR coming into the batting it looked as if RCB would win the match thanks to the down fall of the 4 wickets with Gambhir being the highest scorer with 37 runs.

Pandey, who was out for a week and a half before turning out for this match, struggled right through his 12-ball stay at the crease, where he scored eight runs. When Pandey departed, Kolkata still needed 117 off 59 deliveries. It looked as if everything was over for the visting side but the game changed completely when Pathan and Russell came in to bat.

Pathan’s unbeaten 60 off 29 deliveries, which included six fours and three sixes, and Russell’s 39 off 24, studded with one four and four sixes, led to the loss of Banglore.

If the Pathan brothers perform consistently they will be able to make a place in Team India and join in the vintage brigade with Nehra and Dhoni.

RCB batting line up is powerful and they can score runs and make a huge target upto 200. But their bowling is not consistent and makes the matters worse. If the bowling can be fixed then RCB should be one of the best teams.

With the win, Kolkata moved up to No. 2 on the eight-team points table, while Bangalore remained stuck at No. 7.

RPS started off well in the tournament. With back to back six losses in eight games and being the lowest in the points table. Pune are in a deep pit. Dhoni’s luck has deserted him and Pune. The venue’s IPL jinx continues.

RPS scored 159/5 in 20 over’s  with top scorer being Saurabh Tiwary(57) followed by Steven Smith(45). Bumrah is the only bowler who took the maximum wickets of the top scorers and restricted RPS.

The score looked easier for defending champions who surpassed the target only in 18.3 over’s with skipper Rohit smashing unbeaten 85 off 60 balls.

Rohit tried to change his game .With Parthiv Patel(21), Rayudu(22) and Buttler(27) making small  but useful contributions. It led to the victory of Mumbai Indians.

If Supergaints fail to make it  to the last four of the tournament. It will be the first time that Mahendra Singh Dhoni  led the team which is not in the knock out stage.

In eight seasons of IPL with the Chennai Super Kings, Dhoni has led the team to the finals on six occasions (2008, 2010, 2011 , 2012, 2013, 2015) while the other two occasions ended in last four finishes (2009, 2014)

There was a poor phase in the Super giants innings as they lost the momentum between over’s 11 and 15 scoring only 27 runs in that phase which was the turning point.

If Pune;s game plan can be changed and the best batsman can be bought in the place of the injured batsman. It should be easier for them to win the matches.

A Change in the win for the particular match GL vs KXIP

The first blog of the summer:) Gujarat Lions won the toss and elected to field and Punjab started well with the batting and Murali Vijay top scored for Punjab with 55 runs followed by Saha and Miller with 33 and 31 runs respectively. Kings XI Punjab lost wickets in a jeopardy where Shivil Kaushik took the maximum wickets and changed the game for KXIP. With a lot of jeopardy KXIP managed to score 154 runs which is indeed a big score.

With Gujarat given a target of 155 runs it looked easy as if they would win the match as they are the toppers on the table. The top order failed miserably and the middle order collapsed with Axar Patel’s hatrick. This was Axar’s first T20 hat-trick, and the 14th of the tournament.

The chase was good as over by Ishan Kishan (27) Faulkner (32) and Praveen Kumar (15) delayed the playing out the full quota of over’s.  Mohit Sharma (3/32) complemented Patel well.

With Aksar Patel’s and Mohit Sharma’s bowling KXIP won the match with 23 runs and defeated the table toppers.

Murali Vijay being the new captain replacing Miller he scored well in his debut captaincy. KXIP has found a good bowler who is Axar Patel. It’s too early to comment regarding the performance we will have to wait and watch how they perform in the next coming matches.

India’s massive win against Australia levels the tour 4-4

India made a massive comeback with the last ODI and the T20 against Australia and they won the series clean sweep. Dhoni became the first Captain in 139 years of International Cricket to sweep Australia.

Not any captain could achieve the feat like Dhoni and He also made the highest record in Stumping beating all the other cricketers.

The series started a month ago where India lost the four ODI’S where India was close to winning but lost the match due to inexperienced bowlers.

It seemed that they had more chance of victory in run chases leading consistent by Rohit Sharma and the young test captain Virat Kohli and also India also found their batting line up consistency. The bowling was a concern for Team India in the death over’s which resulted in the loss for Team India in ODI’s.

The critics had a lot to critize the Indian limited over captain, who seemed to be in failing position in winning the series away home in recent times. All Indian fans were worried about him and wanted to see him back with a thumping win.

Rahane’s injury gave a chance for Manish Pandey to prove and he scored a century against immense pressure and Bumrah’s debut was impressive and the team played well in the 5th ODI and won the match.

In the T20’s where senior players were returning to the team and the bowling attack was fruitful so as the batting attack. The complete team performed well in the series.

The final T20 was worth watching where Yuvi performed under immense pressure and he performed well in the last over with his 4 and 6 which paved the win for India and helped Raina completing the match.

MS Dhoni says, “Lot of credit to the bowlers. In the ODI series, the batsmen were doing well, we needed the extra 10% from the bowlers. That has changed with Bumrah coming in and others getting their act together. Yes, the batsmen have taken it up a notch, but it is the bowlers who have done their job better, which has made the difference. There might be one or two changes based on the conditions in the World T20, but this is roughly what our T20 side will look like.”

The captain cool silenced his critics and has come back with a strong answer and he became the first captain to whitewash Aussies.

Congratulations to Team India for their massive victory in the T20s and all the best for the rest of the matches and hope this form continues in the World T20 which is in the month of March.

India vs Australia 5th ODI@SCG

India smashed the winning streak of Australia and averted the white wash of 5-0 at SCG. Pandey helped India win with two balls remaining and it was a nail-biting finish. The win was achieved with a bit of luck, misfielding and dropped catches which helped India landing the victory. The match reminded me of India’s chase against Australia in Canberra.

Dhawan and Rohit Sharma gave a tremendous start off to India with the difference that Dhawan being aggressive on the field than Rohit Sharma this time. With a debut in test with a smashing innings of 187.  Dhawan smashed the Australian bowling at SCG with a massive 78 of 56balls. He hit seven fours and three sixes along the way and added 123 for the opening wicket. Dhawan was dismissed by Hastings and Kohli was dismissed by Hastings for 8 off 11.

After the dismissal of Kohli and Dhawan it brought in Pandey where he was playing his fourth ODI and looking at his batting structure it seemed like he was a veteran of 50. Pandey looked completely organized. He kept scoring runs at regular intervals and ran brilliantly between the wickets. He and Rohit Sharma put an excellent 97 for third wicket, helping India get to win 100 runs exactly. Rohit missed out his century edging to the keeper at 99. Rohit would have been the first Indian batsman to score three centuries in an away series

Rohit dismissal made things complicated for India. Dhoni could not even bat properly in the match and he ended putting immense pressure on Pandey. India needed 100 to win from 91 balls when Dhoni came in.  That became 40 runs needed off the last four over’s. Pandey was batting at a strike rate of well over 100 but Dhoni took long time to get the balls get going. Faulkner and Marsh were entrusted with the bowling job and both men did a commendable job to keep the runs down initially. However the 47th over which was bowled by Marsh costed Australia 13runs. This brought the required runs down to 22 needed off the last two overs. Faulkner bowled a 9-run over, which made it 13 runs needed off the final over — the exact number of runs Marsh had done in the previous over.

The final over was a do or die match finish.  Dhoni, batting on 28 off 40 balls, was on strike to begin the over. Marsh was feeling the pressure and started off with a wide ball which was a plus point for India.  Now 12 runs were needed off 6 balls. Marsh bowled a full toss off and it was a six. Now six were needed off five. Dhoni tried for a six this time and tried finishing off the match but unfortunately was caught by Warner. Six were needed off four with Pandey batting at 98.Gurkeerat Singh was the new man but he was at the non strikers end. Marsh bowled one on off stump, and Pandey got it down to the third man boundary to get to his maiden ODI century.  India now needed two to win off three balls. Pandey finished it off with a brace as India finally beat Australia in Australia after four years. India is the first team anyone who had chased over 300 to beat Australia in Australia.

David Warner’s fifth century and a maiden ton from Mitchell Marsh helped Australia pile a huge score of 330 for 7. India put on their best bowling in this match but couldn’t stop Warner and Marsh.

Debutant Jaspreet Bumrah bowled well and so as Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja bowled well. But the bowling done by Umesh Yadav, Rishi Dhawan and Gurkeerat Singh were expensive. As a result for every good bowler on display for India there was a corresponding poor one, which was fully evidenced by the scorecard.

With David Warners century and Marsh’s ton where he scored 100 just off 81 balls in the final over of the innings. His  knock included nine fours and 2 sixes and guided Australia to huge total.

The best part in the match is Dhawan’s and Rohit’s partnership and Pandey’s ton saved India from a white-wash in the series and trashed Australia’s win.

Bumrah The new face in the T20 Squad against Australia

Shami’s injury came as a major blow for Team India. The T20 Squad made a come back of senior players like Yuvi and Nehra. It’s been long that we have watched them in action with the Indian Jersey.
Gujarat and Mumbai Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah earned his place in Team India for T20 against Australia due to his performance and a replacement for Shami’s injury.
Bumrah who is just 22 will leave for Australia on Jan 22 along with other T20 members i.e. Yuvi, Bhajji, Nehra, Raina and Hardik Pandya.
Bumrah has been the 3rd highest wicket taker with 14 wickets forGujarat for the Syed Mushtaq Trophy.
Bumrah has taken 38 wickets in T20’s with an average of 17, Economy rate of 6:27 and Strike rate of 16:00.
He has been the highest wicket taker in Vijay Hazare Trophy with 21 scalps and also the highest wicket taker in the Ranji season of 2014-15 for Gujarat with 38 scalps.
He is a superb Yorker player and made the captain cool out with a Yorker and this lad also played in Gabba 2014 for India A againstAustralia A and made a haul for 5/132.
If he performs well against Australia in the T20s then he will surely earn a place for the world T20.

All the Best Bamrah:)

India Australia Series 2k16

There has been a huge hype about the India Australia Series something like the Indo-Pak Series always.

India has been good in terms of batting let it is in Brisbane, Perth and MCG. They made a huge score above 300. Rohit Sharma, Kohli and Rahane have played massive in this series. Rohit made back to back centuries and he is always scored good in Australia not to forget that Rohit loves playing against Australia and Kohli made his century at MCG and also completed his 7000 runs and broke the record of AB and the fastest player to reach the 7k mark.

Alas the centuries made by them just went in vain and India lost the matches and so as the series and Dhawan made a decent comeback with a half century. Unfortunately was bowled but atleast this gives him a chance to perform in the upcoming matches.

The reason why India lost the series because of bowling and misfielding. Bowlers could not take wickets and they gave more runs and the fielders dropped the catches and the Indian Team could not stop the Australian action.

Shaun Marsh, Bailey, Steve Smith, Maxwell they have played their best and guided the team to victory.

In the 3rd ODI at MCG Team India had two debutants i.e. Rishi and Gurkeerat who bowled well in the absence of Ashwin and Sran hasn’t performed yet and only has given runs.

With Team India losing the series they need to make sure that they atleast perform in T20 against Australia and not lose the series.

With 49 days left for the World T20 India needs to work a lot on fielding and bowlers and not to forget the batsmen need to maintain their performance and consistency.

If these things are perfect then no one can stop India winning matches against Australia and the World T20.2016-01-17T064258Z_1411232901_GF20000097582_RTRMADP_3_CRICKET-AUSTRALIA

Yuvraj Singh The Comeback Man.

The First Blog of the year

Happy New Year:)

After a long hiatus Yuvraj Singh our own Yuvi got selected in the Indian team after long and fans were excited about it his comeback.

After being one of the best players for World cup and T20 he was the one who marched India to the victory. He is the one who battled cancer and fought back and made a massive comeback in cricket.

His performance was not great when he made a comeback to the Indian team. He was evicted from the Indian team for a very long time.

Yuvi was the highest paid player in IPL.He could not do that great and he continued playing domestic cricket.

At the 2014-15 Ranji trophy Yuvi was selected and he scored massive three centuries and finished with 671 runs in 7 matches with an average of 55.91. He was made as the vice captain for Punjab Cricket Team. In the 2015-16 Vijay Hazare Trophy he scored 341 runs in 5 matches with an average of 85.25 with the scores being 93,36,36,78 and 98. After the incredible domestic season He earned a place in the Indian Team for 3T20I matches to be played in Australia in January 2016.

In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy He was out for 2 and he took two wickets for 16 runs. He was not good with batting but good with bowling.

Now performance would matter for him and it will decide whether he would earn a place for Yuvi in team India or would he be thrown out. This is what we need to look for.

All the best Yuvi for your performance against Australia:)
