Book Review: The boy who loved by Durjoy Datta

Hey Folks! I am back after a long hiatus on my blog. I love reading books and of late was not able to read books and started reading after a break of 6 months. I went to the book store near my house on Saturday afternoon and managed to grab a copy of this book and I spent the whole day almost reading this book and today I am here to write a review.

The-Boy-Who-Loved-by-Durjoy-Datta

I was trying out for the first time an Indian Author’s novel. I could not just judge by the cover and the write-up but what caught my attention was The only thing you cannot plan in life is when and whom to fall in love with.

I liked the plot of the book where it shows cases the journey of Raghu Ganguly about his life-loving middle class parents, his elder brother and his aspiration of joining IIT.  He also has the guilt of his best friend Sami drowning because of him and he hides himself from the world and shy’s away from love and friendship too.  He finds solace in Brahmi a quite girl like him and it show cases their journey with ups and downs. Read this novel out today to find more about them.

It is the first of a two part romance.  It takes you to the flashback of 80’s and 90’s where you are supposed to get married to the same language girl and it also showcases the journey of Hindu-Muslim marriages where most of the families did not accept this and it also showcased their struggle for their love and life.

The book started on  a fast pace initially and later slowed down and I felt the book should have been completed within 250 pages but it was dragged unnecessarily to 300 pages and it moved into slow pace. I also did not feel right that the baby was snatched from the mother and after she agreed to the terms and conditions of the family the baby was given back to her and it also had the Saas-Bahu drama.  I also found editing mistakes which disappointed me and it was coming from Penguin India and after all the book was written exceptionally well.

My Verdict: It is a great book to read if you are a fiction lover with minor flaws.

Rating: 4/5*
